Motorola 53743 Lightweight Headset with Boom Microphone for All Morotola Radios Review

Motorola 53743 Lightweight Headset with Boom Microphone for All Morotola Radios
Average Reviews:

I have a Motorola 6400 radio. When I received this headset I followed the instructions as to how to plug it in, including turning off the radio first. This headset overrides the VOX and keeps it on continuously.I am not able to turn off the VOX when the headset is in even though I turn off the VOX prior to plugging in the headset. When it's plugged in, the VOX control does not display at all, leaving it inaccessible. It also "hot-mike's" and causes high pitched noise.I required a headset for my work in the Army in Iraq and this one does not meet advertised expectations. I cannot use it at all.

Product Description:
Using Motorola's lightweight headset with boom microphone, you can talk and listen without having to remove your TalkAbout or Spirit Series radio from your belt. The headset fits snugly atop your head and delivers strong, clear sound even in noisy places. It's fully compatible with VOX/hands-free radios for voice-activated simplicity. Conveniently, the set fits without the need for a headband, making it less visually conspicuous and more adaptable to your hair style.
Please note: the Motorola T5100, T5200, fr50, and fr60 radios are not VOX/hands-free-capable, so the headset is manual/PPT only for these models.
What's in the Box
Headset/microphone combo and a user's manual.

Nady Mo-headset FORMRC-11 Review

Nady Mo-headset FORMRC-11
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The headsets work well and are easy to change from helmet to helmet. I also bought 2 Nady mrc-11x motorcycle communicators. These units have a few problems but work well for the money. The units come with an external ptt button you can mount on your handlebars I had the units replaced once and the external ptt button did not work on all 4 units. It is pretty simple to reach down and hit the ptt button on the unit clipped to your belt. The units do have vox but it is slow to react so it is easier to use the ptt button. The units work both bike to bike and as an intercom, however they do not work very well as both at the same time. When 2 headsets are hooked to the same unit the headsets are in constant communication therefor the wind and engine noise is heard constantly making it difficult to hear if someone from another unit is trying to talk.
I would recommend these units to anyone, I think the problems are minor and for the price they work very well.

Uniden GMRS380 5-Mile 15-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) Review

Uniden GMRS380 5-Mile 15-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After purchasing a pair of 380's for my wife and I, we are pleased that we only had to pay 25.00 USD for these units. Best Buy was blowin them out as a clearance sale. The range is only as good as line of sight, that is to say if you were on top of a tall building and could see the person to whom you were transmitting to, you might get the advertised range of up to five miles "as the crows flys". R.F. power out is rated at 2 watts! On the other hand, most people use these units for short distance communications, and can be satisfied with maybe a mile with objects in the way of the r.f. that is being emitted. All IN ALL THEY WERE WORTH 25.00 FOR THE PAIR, GIVEN THE OLD ADDAGE,"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR".

Click Here to see more reviews about: Uniden GMRS380 5-Mile 15-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair)

Product Description:
Stay connected with your buddies while hiking on the trail, riding the ski lift, or exploring other locations within a 5-mile range with this pair of GMRS380 two-way radios. Also ideal as a neighborhood watch tool and workplace aid, each radio features 15 channels (8 GMRS and 7 FRS) and 38 CTCSS privacy codes, along with a voice-activated transmitter that enables hands-free communication when teamed with an optional headset and mic. The range of channels and privacy codes gives you several communication options, ensuring that you can almost always talk with friends or family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal (radios must be set on the same channel and code to communicate).
It's easy to browse for channels thanks to the channel scan feature, which looks for active signals while you view the display, and the monitor function, which listens for weak signals on a given channel. And talking on the radio couldn't be simpler--just hit the PTT button when you're ready to transmit. It's important to note that the transmission range will vary depending on the channel and the surrounding terrain.
The radios also include such features as a backlit LCD display with a battery strength meter, a keypad lock that keeps you from accidentally pressing buttons at the wrong time (such as when a radio is in your pocket), a headset jack, and your choice of five different call tones. And no worries about running out of power too quickly, as the radios run for around 25 hours each on four AAA batteries, and are also recharge-capable when teamed with optional NiMH battery packs and charging cradles (sold separately). The entire bundle, which includes two belt clips for efficient transport, is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box
Two GMRS380 radios, two belt clips, user's manual.

Motorola 53728 Flexible Ear Receiver for All Series Review

Motorola 53728 Flexible Ear Receiver for All Series
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Motorola used to sell a Flexible Ear Receiver with a standard earphone plug (3.5mm, I think) that I used with a walkie talkie at work.It fit my ear perfectly, and is adjustable to boot (sorry, Brian, but maybe you're putting it on wrong...).It was about the only thing I could comfortably wear all day (I can't stand having one of those earbuds jammed in my canal).I found it also worked great with my portable radio, CD player, and laptop (mono only, obviously).Unfortunately, Motorola says they don't make that configuration any more. The Receiver shown here is their new model, which has a much smaller (2mm?) plug.If you have compatible equipment, however, this should be a comfortable and useful accessory. It's especially good if you listen more than you talk - I could hear everything with the radio clipped to my belt as I went about my day, and when I picked it up to talk into it, people could tell I was "on the phone."

As a professional videographer, I needed a way to communicate with my other camera person and I found a 2-way radio but during a wedding I could not have a loud radio going off. After a long search, this earbud headset was recommended.I have used them on two wedding shoots so far and they have work very well.

That said, I wish they were not the earbud type. The earbud has a tendency to fall out which can be a pain it if it happens at important moment.I also would have liked to have the mic be a little closer to the earbud because I have reach down and move the mic closer to my mouth to stay quite.

Not bad for the price, but it could be better

Do not buy this for the GMR1038-2 or 2CK radios. It is not the right unit for that radio.I have no idea how well it works for the correct radio, but it did seem comfortable and low profile, like it would fit well under hearing protection.woops, duh, darn.I need to return it for either an HS910 or S915, which I don't see on Amazon.
I do not think Amazon should take advantage of dopes like me by listing this as "people who bought X also bought Y".I now know that is a bunch of bandini.

Audiovox GMRS-WP1 2-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio
Average Reviews:

The headset fits behind your head, not over the top, so it fits well with a helmet. The FM radio will shut down when there is a incoming signal from another radio, so you can ride and listen to tunes, plus still be monitoring for another biker to talk! 2 mile range, and it holds up to high speed well, without wind causing the VOX to key. I use it on my Goldwing. I can talk to a passenger or to other bikes. Systems like this made for bikes cost mega $$$$. This is a good, cheap alternative with added features. I suggest you get two.
Good sound, loud enough and the batteries last.I've recommended it to our club.
Now, if we could just get all bikers to agree on a specific channel to stay on.....(LOL)

Looks and feels okay, but it is hard to hear someone talking from this unit.
You need to get close to the mic and talk pretty loud to be heard. If you need to speak softly you can't use this unit. Also interference/loud alerts can hurt your ear. But if you don't want people to know you have a radio on this is the way to go. But it's not perfect.

Midland 22540 Headset Speaker with Boom Microphone Review

Midland 22540 Headset Speaker with Boom Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is a piece of junk, so poorly constructed that the headband and operational parts have no solid connection. As soon as you put it on, it comes apart, a constant frustration. Perhaps the designers knew itcouldn't be worn long, so uncomfortable is it. It pinches the head, loses its adjustment, and the clamp at the end is hard and sharp edged, despite a piece of symbolic foam that's so hard it has no cushioning effect.

The earphone (there's only one) is of low quality, and I couldn't get the mic to work. It broadcast only static on otherwise functioning CB radios from both the same maker, Midland, and from Cobra.

It is the cheapest CB headset on the market, and for a reason. Don't waste your money on it.

I also am displeased with the merchant who sold it. Though it was well- packed and quickly delivered, when I wrote them for a return authorization, I got no reply. They apparently didn't want it back.

I can understand why.

Midland BT2D Bluetooth Intercom System for Motorcycle (Pair) Review

Midland BT2D Bluetooth Intercom System for Motorcycle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This BT2-D was exactly what I was looking for and more! My main goal was to be able to talk on the cell phone or intercom when I need to and not to have it be a risky event. I have a Goldwing that has built in radio and intercom but I would have to spend over $300 for cell phone integration but I would still have to be tethered to the bike's wired system to use it. For less $ than that, I got a piece of technology that doesn't tether me to the bike or shut off when I shut off the bike and walk into the house while I finish up the song I was listening to. I will also use it for snowmobiling this winter.

The BT2 provides me with great integration with my Blackberry 9630 Tour. Answering and making cell calls are flawless with voice commands. It's amazing actually how well it works. The Bluetooth reliably connects every time I turn the BT2 on. If I have the phone's media player active (playing or on pause), it will begin playing the music immediately after connecting. Voice quality is awesome on both ends for cell calls and the intercom. The person on the other end of the cell call doesn't even know I am on a motorcycle doing 60mph. Streaming audio is also really good. When playing music from the phone, it's best to keep the volume on the BT2 on one setting and use the phone's up/down volume. There is great flexibility with the small but very good sounding speakers (of course don't expect tons of low end). The sound is better the closer the speaker units are to your ears. The units can get really loud. If you wear earplugs while riding, you will be able to hear the BT2 just fine. It was easy to install as Velcro is on the back of the speakers and boom-mic mounting areas. I thought wearing gloves would be a problem trying to hit the buttons while riding. With the lighter gloves I've been wearing it has not been a problem.

I haven't pushed the battery life too much to test claims of the 8 hours talk-time. I have ran them for 2 hours with no problems. As far as the distance range of the bike to bike feature, I get about 90-100 yards max with no obstacles between the units. That's good enough for my needs. The literature boasts a maximum range of 220 yards.

The only downside for me is the short pop/click sound it makes when switching the unit on/off, changing inputs or intercom, turning its volume up or down, changing songs, or when it goes from music to phone and back. The pop/click occurs just before the normal confirmation tones it is supposed to make. The pop/click is normal as confirmed with Midland. Not a big deal considering the other benefits of the unit. Also note that the AGC (supposed to turn the volume louder as the outside environment gets louder) only seems to work on the wired input and not the Bluetooth connected devices. To change the volume on the wired connection with the connected device you must use the connected device...not the BT2. No biggie, just use the phone's volume buttons or if on a call, reach up and push the appropriate BT2 volume buttons.

Motorola 53725 SLK Headset with Swivel Boom Mic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, it doesn't use batteries, it doesn't light up, and it doesn't cost a lot. But this headset/boom mic is an essential accessory for the TalkAbouts for this simple reason: TalkAbouts have voice-operated control (VOX) whenused with a plugin headset/mic. We have also evaluated the earbud/mic combofor bike riders and found it almost unworkable (it picks up road noise and,to me, the earbud causes excruciating pain after a day of use). The headsetis a much better solution. The band actually fits OVER a safety helmet, andthe closed-foam-cell rubber pad grips the plastic shell securely. The boommic rejects most road noise, and soon becomes forgotten in the course ofroutine use. (It quickly comes back to the foreground when I try to sipfrom my water bottle!) If you purchase one of the TalkAbouts, consider thisas your second accessory purchase -- your first should be a carryingholster or case. Now, if Motorola would only agree on a partnership withJABRA Technologies to produce a JABRA Earset for the TalkAbouts, myhappiness would be complete ...

Midland AVPH8 Acoustic Throat Mic for GMRS Radios with PTT/VOX Compartment
Average Reviews:

This is a nice headset. The sound is a little difficult to hear sometimes but if you adjust your volume down it seems to help a little. I do love the fact that the earpiece stays in place, even after running, rolling, dodging, and weaving, as well as the neck mic. I would recommend this for paintball players if you are one. The only down side... since the sound is sometimes difficult, you will almost never hear someone whispering or talking in a low voice no matter where your volume is. The up side... the button on the wire is a nice size so it's easy to find with gloves and vox seems to work pretty well when you get the setting right.
