(More customer reviews)I have a Motorola 6400 radio.When I received this headset I followed the instructions as to how to plug it in, including turning off the radio first.This headset overrides the VOX and keeps it on continuously.I am not able to turn off the VOX when the headset is in even though I turn off the VOX prior to plugging in the headset.When it's plugged in, the VOX control does not display at all, leaving it inaccessible.It also "hot-mike's" and causes high pitched noise.I required a headset for my work in the Army in Iraq and this one does not meet advertised expectations. I cannot use it at all.

(More customer reviews)After purchasing a pair of 380's for my wife and I, we are pleased that we only had to pay 25.00 USD for these units. Best Buy was blowin them out as a clearance sale. The range is only as good as line of sight, that is to say if you were on top of a tall building and could see the person to whom you were transmitting to, you might get the advertised range of up to five miles "as the crows flys". R.F. power out is rated at 2 watts! On the other hand, most people use these units for short distance communications, and can be satisfied with maybe a mile with objects in the way of the r.f. that is being emitted. All IN ALL THEY WERE WORTH 25.00 FOR THE PAIR, GIVEN THE OLD ADDAGE,"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR".

Stay connected with your buddies while hiking on the trail, riding the ski lift, or exploring other locations within a 5-mile range with this pair of GMRS380 two-way radios. Also ideal as a neighborhood watch tool and workplace aid, each radio features 15 channels (8 GMRS and 7 FRS) and 38 CTCSS privacy codes, along with a voice-activated transmitter that enables hands-free communication when teamed with an optional headset and mic. The range of channels and privacy codes gives you several communication options, ensuring that you can almost always talk with friends or family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal (radios must be set on the same channel and code to communicate).
It's easy to browse for channels thanks to the channel scan feature, which looks for active signals while you view the display, and the monitor function, which listens for weak signals on a given channel. And talking on the radio couldn't be simpler--just hit the PTT button when you're ready to transmit. It's important to note that the transmission range will vary depending on the channel and the surrounding terrain.
The radios also include such features as a backlit LCD display with a battery strength meter, a keypad lock that keeps you from accidentally pressing buttons at the wrong time (such as when a radio is in your pocket), a headset jack, and your choice of five different call tones. And no worries about running out of power too quickly, as the radios run for around 25 hours each on four AAA batteries, and are also recharge-capable when teamed with optional NiMH battery packs and charging cradles (sold separately). The entire bundle, which includes two belt clips for efficient transport, is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

(More customer reviews)Can be used with multiple pod and headphone combinations.My son plugged in Disney and Crazy Frog's versions of a song, through 2 pods.He and I both listened to his mix, and we still had two ports available for more friends or MP3 players.Only has one MP3 jack, so to use more than one device at a time, you need a male-to-male plug (radio shack/target/walmart for >$5).This is really cool for letting 5 kids listen at once.Great product.We'll see how it holds up over time, though the quality feels fine.Props to Belkin for making packaging that doesn't require scissors and sharp edges/sliced fingers to open...

EDIT:My son checked the packaging this morning before he threw it away and there was an extra male-to-male plug for connecting a second ipod wrapped up inside.The only way it could be better is if it made my coffee...

(More customer reviews)As a professional videographer, I needed a way to communicate with my other camera person and I found a 2-way radio but during a wedding I could not have a loud radio going off.After a long search, this earbud headset was recommended.I have used them on two wedding shoots so far and they have work very well.

That said, I wish they were not the earbud type.The earbud has a tendency to fall out which can be a pain it if it happens at important moment.I also would have liked to have the mic be a little closer to the earbud because I have reach down and move the mic closer to my mouth to stay quite.

Not bad for the price, but it could be better

But this headset/boom mic is an essential accessory for the TalkAbouts for this simple reason: TalkAbouts have voice-operated control (VOX) whenused with a plugin headset/mic. We have also evaluated the earbud/mic combofor bike riders and found it almost unworkable (it picks up road noise and,to me, the earbud causes excruciating pain after a day of use). The headsetis a much better solution. The band actually fits OVER a safety helmet, andthe closed-foam-cell rubber pad grips the plastic shell securely. The boommic rejects most road noise, and soon becomes forgotten in the course ofroutine use. (It quickly comes back to the foreground when I try to sipfrom my water bottle!) If you purchase one of the TalkAbouts, consider thisas your second accessory purchase -- your first should be a carryingholster or case. Now, if Motorola would only agree on a partnership withJABRA Technologies to produce a JABRA Earset for the TalkAbouts, myhappiness would be complete ...

(More customer reviews)I have tried other kinds of these things and there was always 2 problems. 1 they hurt after a long shift. 2 they made it hard to hear it was as if you had an ear plug in one ear. These worked MUCH better both ways. Because of the acoustic tube you can still hear with the ear that has the piece in it. I found out right away that even after a 12 hour shift my ear was not sore from wearing this. If you want to use a two way with an ear piece this is the only way to go.
