(More customer reviews)I received my MVH-P8200BT yesterday, and installed it.Installation was as normal as any other stereo, except the additional parking brake wire if you want to use the photo or video portion of this radio.Let me first start out by saying the AM & FM portion of the radio work pretty good, you can relatively easily seek to the next or previous station by pushing the knob left or right, or bring up your presets by pushing it up. The radio displays the RDS nicely as well. Changing sources (Radio, ipod/USB, or Aux input requires pressing the SRC button and rotating the tuning knob to the right or left to highlight the source and then pressing the tuning knob in.This in all is relatively easy to do in a timely manner.

Where the problem comes in, is using the ipod interface.it will start playing I believe the last song you had playing, but if you want to jump to another artist or lets say a podcast, be prepared to take your eyes off the road.You have to hit the Home button, and then rotate the knob one to the right and then press it in, and rotate the knob to highlight Songs or podcast or artist, and in my case lets do podcast, then the lost of podcast comes up and you have to rotate to the podcast and press the knob in, then it shows you the episodes, then you push it in.But on top of doing this, the tuning knob which is a 5 way control (left, right, up , down, and in) is very sensitive and plan on registering the wrong menu choice, and then having to hit the previous button on the display to pop out one menu and continue.You have to do this anything you want to change songs that are not the next immediate song that you can just press the right commander button to jump to next track.

So, I thought, well the nice remote has a left right up and down, and in feature as well.I will do this from the remote with a little more precision, well turns out 70% of the buttons on the remote don't even do anything.any function that requires you to turn that knob on the radio, still has to be done that way. the up and down will not allow you to scroll through menu items. the only real think I was able to do with the remote was volume, next track and previous track, and radio tuning.

If you thought it would be nice to be able to play videos from your ipod or photos, it requires a $40 cable with a usb and aux cable now hanging out of the front of the radio per the manual.I did put some photos on the SD card, but you cannot play music from SD while you do your slid show, and again its a cumbersome use of the scroll wheel to jog between music and photos on the SD setup. You are able to play the slide show while listening to the radio.

Now for the real good, I think the best integration with this unit is the bluetooth with the iphone or probably many other phones, I was able to easily pull up contacts, and you can quickly choose a letter of the starting letter of the contact and click through to dial the appropriate name and if you want to call mobile or home.And the audio with the included mic is excellent.it will mute your music and continue it when your call is done.

The radio looks really good and thats what lead me immediately to this model, but I am ever so sorry I did not test it out before doing the install.I for sure thought the short comings would be overcome by using the remote, but you had no way to test it that well in the store.The remote is useless for iPod navigation or navigation or any SD media.I did get a chance to watch many tutorials online on the Alpine receiver 305 which was made for iPod and it has the navigation the way I would prefer it, thought it does lack characters and you have to scroll most titles, this pioneer was able to display a good character set.Oh and speaking of a feature that Alpine has, it has a nice readable clock.The clock on this is small, there is a feature you can turn on to show a nice clock, but you have to turn it on every time, it doesn't stay on as an option. Even with the radio in off mode, it should show the nice larger clock IMHO, but it doesn't you have to fight menus again to call this up.

To summarize,much fighting with a poor jog wheel to drill through menus to make common settings to what you want to listen to.They made it simple to change source and volume and next and previous track everything else gets deep in menus that will take usually 6 to 10 seconds to drill through menus to do, this is not safe in a car and the remote which could have assisted in this matter has much less ability.I think if you can do a double din the AVH-P3200 double din touch screen, is sooo much easier to navigate and for not more then $120 more in general, very upgradable and the addition items you get (CD/DVD slot and DVD playback, you wont be trying to convert stuff to Divx, and you can burn your stuff or bring along your DVD's and you have a bigger screen.

Motorola D650 Bluetooth iPod Adapter (89147J) Review

(More customer reviews)The design of this device is severely flawed. It disconnects extremely easily (try a slight bump, even inside a case) when doing anything even remotely active. Mine came as part of the iPod/S9 "Active" adapter kit...and it is so completely worthless that I am returning it.

Every time the d650 gets bumped or has pressure put on it (such as when bending over with it inside a case clipped to my waist) it disconnects from the iPod, loses power, and then has to be re-paired with the headset...which requires that you monitor a colored light on the headset...which requires that you take it off.

Every ten or so time it pairs with the headset it requires that you pause and unpause the iPod, which requires that you remove it from whatever case you're using to do something active with it, and putting back in the case can provide enough force to dislodge the d650 and start all over.

In short, it's going back.

(More customer reviews)I was all hyped up about getting this phone and that feeling faded after only 24hrs of owning it. This phone represents a good try by Uniden, but I feel that it needs to go back for a version 2. First, for me, the ringers on this phone do not ring loud enough (with a few expectations)....Uniden does allow you to set the base station to ring, and it does ring loudly (too loudly at night) but that defeats the reason to have a cordless phone if you are attached to the base station all day. The LCD on the closed clamshell isn't very good. It is easier to read when the backlighting is off then when on. The hinge on my phone squeaked when opening and closing and the keys on the handset feel cheap, not what you should expect from at $250 phone. The software to program the phone is nice, easy to use, and made it really convenient to program in over 50 names and reminder dates, but it would have been nice if Uniden would have allowed you to download ringtones into the phone via the software and USB cable, rather then having to record it into the phone via a mic or a line setup. The color screen is nice and bright, but too small...its like 150 pixels X 150 pixels and the images you can download for your contacts become the size of a postage stamp CUT IN HALF!!Overall it is an average phone, not worth $250, maybe $160....all I know is mine is going back to the store for a refund. Sony Bluetooth Wireless Transmitter for iPod (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)If you're looking for info on how well this works with headsets, I'm sorry to say that I don't own a BT headset (yet).This review focuses on the transmitter in conjunction with a Sony BT receiver that I use to connect my iPod to my home receiver, since that was the primary reason that I got one of these.But hopefully you'll still find something useful.

First off, Amazon's two sentence product description is a bit too brief, so here are some specs from the packaging:

Although the compatibility list does not mention it, this add-on definitely works with the iPod classic, because that's what I'm using.The terminal is the current standard 30-pin connector, so if your iPod is more recent than the above list, chances are that it will probably work... but I can only speak for the classic.CONTENTS:

One funny note regarding the packaging:I couldn't believe how HUGE the packaging was for such a small item!!The main photo on the package depicts an iPod with the transmitter cleverly placed in view right below the iPod photo, where it would plug in.It certainly catches the eye.USAGE:
It couldn't be simplerYou just turn on your iPod and connect the transmitter to the port, and in order to activate it, you set your receiving device into pairing mode and then hold down the button on the transmitter for about 7 seconds until the two devices are paired.That's it.SOUND:
Overall, I find the sound quality on the receiving side to be excellent.I base my opinion on headphone comparisons between:
a) plugging directly into the iPod and
b) plugging into my Bluetooth receiver unit
As far as I can tell, the sound is pretty much identical, although a bit lower in volume, but that may due to my Bluetooth receiver.

For reference, I'm using the transmitter in conjunction with the Sony HWS-BTA2W Bluetooth wireless audio transmitter/receiver as my Bluetooth receiver.Both these two devices support Bluetooth 2.0 and A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile).For audio comparisons, I used a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ Monitor Series Headphones.

One important thing to note is that you cannot control the volume of the transmitted sound.I'm not exactly sure why that is, but it appears to be by design.All your iPod controls behave as they normally do and you can even move the volume slider up or down, however it has no effect on the transmitted sound.Some functions, however, do still affect the sound, such as "Sound Check", "Volume Limit", and all the "EQ" settings.Since these features still work, I'm assuming that the lack of volume control is by design.The volume output is the max allowed by the Volume Limit setting.

My only guess is that the volume control is to be used in conjunction with AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), but I don't have such a device to confirm.I don't know if this happens on other iPod bluetooth adaptors, but I could see the inability to control the volume via the iPod becoming an issue if you want to use it with a BT headset (unless the headset has volume controls)RANGE:
The packaging states "Line of Sight approx 10m (30 ft)".I had thought that Bluetooth did not require line of sight, but Sony clearly states so and for the most part, it holds true for this unit.I have tested up to around 25 feet with clear line of sight and the sound remaind crisp and clear.Clothing also did not present any problems.I buried the iPod and transmitter under a pile of ski clothing with no effect.

But once you block the path with walls or other sources of interference, the signal will start to become choppy or completely cut off.Be warned that your body can also block the signal.Cupping my hands completely around the transmitter would pretty much turn the signal to crap beyond only a few feet from the BT receiver.In most cases, as long as I'm witin a one or two feet, the signal still comes through, but the more I block the signal and the further I go, the more the signal would degrade, as is to be expected.

As far as home use goes, as long as I'm in the same room and not actively trying to block the signal, I haven't had any problems.DESIGN:
The design is about as simple as you can get.It has a single big button in the center, which you can use for various functions (turning on/off, pairing) and a bright blue light which signals the unit's activities.It is completely powered by the iPod, so no extra power supply or battery is required.

I have seen similar Bluetooth attachments for the iPod which are little blocks the same width as the iPod.Personally, I prefer the small design of the Sony.One major factor that I like about it is that I can plug it into my iPod without removing it from its protective case.I use a leather casing by INCASE which only leaves me an opening for the 30-pin connector at the bottom.

My main pet peeve that I have about most block adaptors is that while they may blend better with the iPod in overall shape, there aren't any cases (that I know of) available that fit an iPod WITH attachments, so if you use a case and want to connect something, chances are you'll have to remove the iPod from its case before plugging in your accessory.The Sony might make for an odd shape, but for my purposes at least, it works better and I think that it still looks pretty slick.

One thing that Sony could have added, however, is a locking clip for the transmitter.The transmitter sits pretty snugly and doesn't feel like it'll fall out by accident, but it would have been nice to have that extra sense of security.CONCLUSION:
The unit is a bit pricey, but overall I'm quite satisfied with its functionality.The sound quality is good and for my purposes, I haven't had any problems with signal strength.

As an aside, my primary goal was to connect my iPod to my home speaker system.I was originally looking at the iPod Universal Dock, but found it to be completely worthless, since the remote control could only play/pause/skip prev/next and control the volume.For actually selecting music, I still had to go up to the dock in order to browse for my music.And who wants to get up to change music anyway?:)

Using this Bluetooth setup, I can now use my iPod as a fully functional "remote" (except for volume) and have my music come out of my main speaker system.I do wish I could have the option of charging my iPod while it's broadcasting (since the charging port is occupied by the transmitter), but the fact that I can keep my iPod in its protective case and the nice compact size and look of the transmitter makes for a decent tradeoff.Bottom line:If you have a nice home speaker setup, I totally recommend going this route!

**UPDATE 12/13/2007**
Just a few more quick notes and clarifications (as if this review wasn't long enough, eh?) since I've been using it for about a month now... and I still LOVE this device!

Usage:
I should clarify my above comment that it only requires pairing with your receiving device ONCE (like most BT devices).After the initial pairing you can unplug it and only plug it back into the iPod when you want to use it.If you're near your previously paired receiving device, all you have to do is plug the transmitter into your iPod and hit play, and the receiver should immediately pick up your audio signal.To preserve battery life, the iPod transmitter only transmits if you're actually playing music, which is pretty good.

Lack of volume control:
After having read other reviews for similar attachments, the fixed volume output appears to be normal.For my purposes, it would have been nice if I could have controlled volume directly from the iPod, but I'll live.At least I know that it wasn't necessarily a design-flaw in this particular device.

The microphone for the CB radio also houses the Bluetooth microphone.You do not push the button to talk on your cell phone, but if the mike is not mounted near the driver's face, you may need to hold it in order to be heard.

While driving in a semi, it works well to cancel out the noise of the truck from the background.

In addition, the advantages over mobile Bluetooth devices is that you do not need to recharge this unit.If you spend a lot of time in a vehicle, this is a good product for you.

Do be careful with the microphone, however.It is not the standard 4-pin microphone used on virtually all CB radios today but instead has six pins.If the microphone is damaged beyond use or must be replaced, a special microphone with the Bluetooth technology is required to continue using the unit.

(More customer reviews)This is a very cool gadget, that adds a Bluetooth interface to anything with either audio-in or audio-out jacks.

For example, receiver side of this device will connect your home/car/boat stereo to your Bluetooth-enabled MP3 player (like the one built into the RAZR V3xx and V3i mobile phones) allowing you to play your MP3s through the stereo's amp and speakers.

The transmitter side makes it possible to listen to the TV over Bluetooth headphones, just plug this thing in to the audio output jacks (found on most cable converters, DVD players, etc.)

In short, it makes your older audio devices available via Bluetooth, in just about every way you can imagine.

A couple of quick usage notes:

1.) To put it into pairing mode you must hold it's ID button for 7 seconds while it is powered *off*.You can hold it all day long after it's powered on, without changing a thing.

2.) The female audio jacks built into it are pretty stiff, you have to push it in until it clicks, and it takes a little more force than usual.(btw, its package does not RCA jack adapters, as is suggested in some of the product's literature, but those adapters are both cheap and readily available.)

3.) It's documentation states it can store 8 pairings with other devices, but does not indicate whether its transmitter is capable of connecting to more than one device at a time (which would be most functional, for sure.)At the moment I only have one device that supports A2DP (as a receiver, so until I get another, it's wait-and-see, I suppose... (I'll be pleasanty surprised if it does support more than one concurrent receiver, but what the heck: dare to dream.)

(More customer reviews)When I got the HTC Evo back at the beginning of June I just went to Wal Mart and picked up an FM transmitter there for 50 dollars, but it would only transmit to the radio but not charge the phone. For anyone who has an Evo, you know that the battery life is not good. Plus it had a so much excess wiring. I returned it and bought this off of amazon and it is amazing. It paired within 10 seconds and transmits with barely noticeable no static, transmits far better than the 50 dollar thing I got from Wal-Mart or the FM transmitter I had for my iphone. I put my phone onto pandora, plug in the charger and set it down and if a song comes up I want to skip, I can just hit the forward button on the flexSmart unit which can be easily adjusted to any position for your hand.

I love this thing, its not obtrusive, theres not a ton of excess wiring, just the gooseneck and if you want to charge it simultaneously you can just plug it into the usb port with the included 6 inch wire or use your own. The calls come in clear and great too, just as good as any bluetooth headset.

I highly recommend this if you dont have an auxiliary port in your car stereo, I was considering getting the gomadic one which is only 5 dollars cheapers, but has so much more wiring and the typical inconvenient control module built into the wiring. I'm really glad I got this one, I'm about to drive from DC to Portland and this thing will make the trip much more bearable and its not an eye sore in the car.

Midland BT2D Bluetooth Intercom System for Motorcycle (Pair) Review

(More customer reviews)This BT2-D was exactly what I was looking for and more! My main goal was to be able to talk on the cell phone or intercom when I need to and not to have it be a risky event. I have a Goldwing that has built in radio and intercom but I would have to spend over $300 for cell phone integration but I would still have to be tethered to the bike's wired system to use it. For less $ than that, I got a piece of technology that doesn't tether me to the bike or shut off when I shut off the bike and walk into the house while I finish up the song I was listening to. I will also use it for snowmobiling this winter.

The BT2 provides me with great integration with my Blackberry 9630 Tour. Answering and making cell calls are flawless with voice commands. It's amazing actually how well it works. The Bluetooth reliably connects every time I turn the BT2 on. If I have the phone's media player active (playing or on pause), it will begin playing the music immediately after connecting. Voice quality is awesome on both ends for cell calls and the intercom. The person on the other end of the cell call doesn't even know I am on a motorcycle doing 60mph. Streaming audio is also really good. When playing music from the phone, it's best to keep the volume on the BT2 on one setting and use the phone's up/down volume. There is great flexibility with the small but very good sounding speakers (of course don't expect tons of low end). The sound is better the closer the speaker units are to your ears. The units can get really loud. If you wear earplugs while riding, you will be able to hear the BT2 just fine. It was easy to install as Velcro is on the back of the speakers and boom-mic mounting areas. I thought wearing gloves would be a problem trying to hit the buttons while riding. With the lighter gloves I've been wearing it has not been a problem.

I haven't pushed the battery life too much to test claims of the 8 hours talk-time. I have ran them for 2 hours with no problems. As far as the distance range of the bike to bike feature, I get about 90-100 yards max with no obstacles between the units. That's good enough for my needs. The literature boasts a maximum range of 220 yards.

The only downside for me is the short pop/click sound it makes when switching the unit on/off, changing inputs or intercom, turning its volume up or down, changing songs, or when it goes from music to phone and back. The pop/click occurs just before the normal confirmation tones it is supposed to make. The pop/click is normal as confirmed with Midland. Not a big deal considering the other benefits of the unit. Also note that the AGC (supposed to turn the volume louder as the outside environment gets louder) only seems to work on the wired input and not the Bluetooth connected devices. To change the volume on the wired connection with the connected device you must use the connected device...not the BT2. No biggie, just use the phone's volume buttons or if on a call, reach up and push the appropriate BT2 volume buttons.
