Works great.Radio must be below driver when mounted in car to see information when in open position (no problem in my Saturn).Install was like any other car radio (it takes time).

Each speaker, which measures 6.5 inches in diameter, boasts an anodized polypropylene cone woofer with a foam surround, along with a 0.5-inch swivel tweeter and a 0.5-inch piezoelectric tweeter on a swivel array. The three-way design produces a frequency response of 60 Hz to 20 kHz--far wider than the default speakers that come with most cars. Meanwhile, the dual swivels let users pinpoint the best listening angle for the high frequencies, which creates a more pleasing audio profile depending on where you install the speakers. Listeners can also boost the bass by adding a subwoofer to the mix.
An added bonus stems from the speakers' "red satin" interior color, which is framed by a black ABS metal mesh grille. The vibrant hue adds a touch of smokin'-hot style to your car's insides, especially those with black seats and detail. Installation is relatively straightforward thanks to the included instructions, although owners with limited experience making car cutouts should consider hiring an audio technician. Yamaha RX-397 100 Watt Natural Sound AM/FM Stereo Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)Despite the current fad for multi-channel audio/video receivers, the majority of people still listen to music with two speakers and only need a two-channel stereo receiver to drive them. As fanatic audiophiles with excellent stereo speakers, my wife and I recently purchased this receiver because of very good previous experience with Yamaha electronics products. This is a superb receiver in all respects. Some people may think that they need more than this receiver's rated power of 50 watts per channel, but Yamaha's power ratings are extremely conservative and this receiver will drive virtually any speakers to deafening levels (which I don't recommend doing). More important than it's ample power is its very low distortion. Yamaha specializes in low distortion products for very clean sound. In addition to robust power and ultra-low distortion the RX-397 has a full complement of controls, plus an easy to use remote. But as a fanatic audiophile another feature, typical of Yamaha, which I particularly appreciate is a button which sends the signal from our CD player (or any other non-phono cartridge input) directly to the amplifier -- bypassing the preamp circuitry, which is not needed except when playing LPs (which most people rarely do these days) -- for the lowest distortion and best signal to noise ratio. There are plenty of slighty less expensive -- and less good -- stereo receivers available, but if you want suberb performance at a moderate price I highly recommend thisYamaha.

(More customer reviews)This Sherwood (noted brand years ago, now mysterious) might be a decent bargain for twice the money. It's stripped down by present standards -- two channels only, no phonograph input. It's dead quiet and extremely clean sounding. I can't hear any emphases or dead spots in the frequencies. The tuner is exceptionally good; I am surprised at the success I'm having with it in a poor reception area, with only the antennas that are supplied. Appearance and quality are fine: nice black steel case, solid buttons, one big old volume knob.It was all I needed, so I'm very pleased. Going to get another for a computer amp.

Sherwood's incredibly affordable RX-4105 offers integrated preamplification and amplification, inputs for numerous audio source components, and advanced radio tuning and station access. The receiver delivers 100 watts RMS per channel x 2 for strong, clear sound across the audible spectrum--even at low listening levels. The company has lowered the amplifier's distortion relative to the previous model (the RX-4105), to less than 0.08 percent, while also giving the receiver a new layout borrowed from its higher-end components.
The RX-4105 uses totally discrete amplifiers for all channels (TDAS) to maintain its high power and low distortion. Use the receiver's A and B clip-type speaker outputs to power 2 different rooms, or to biwire a pair of speakers for more efficient amplification (with A outputs driving the woofers, for instance, and the B outputs driving the tweeters--make sure your speakers are compatible if this is a key feature for you).
The receiver also offers a handy 25-key remote control and switching for 2 pair of loudspeakers. Audio inputs switch between and amplify up to 4 additional components, including 2 requiring both inputs and outputs (such as a cassette deck and a VCR). The built-in AM/FM tuner features 30 station presets and auto station setup.
Other features include bass and treble tone controls, a dimmable fluorescent display, and a .25-inch headphone jack for private listening.

Polk Audio Monitor 30 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (Pair, Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I have had the Monitor 30's for almost a year now and am incredibly impressed.Great bang for the buck (paid $140 on sale at CC).I am using these as fronts in my 7.1 surround set up, with Polk M10's as the surrounds and a Pioneer VSX-1018 avr and Sony 40S2010 LCD.I am still using a crappy jvc htib 60watt powered sub, but am planning on treating myself to a Avs123 X-sub for Christmas. :)Anyway, I am here to talk about the Polk M30.My set up is for a 15'x17'den.That's a fairly small room and I have a wife that agitated with overpowering sound (yeah, my love for audio equipment does not always over well).Although I would have loved to go for a floorstanding speaker, I agreed to stick to bookshelf size to keep my wife happy.The M30 certainly fit the bill.They have a clean, accurate sound with excellent highs and mids.The sound is linear and smooth, with a warm tone.If you like a brighter sounding speaker, these probably aren't for you and you might be better off with the Infinity Beta series.As far as bass goes, on my radio shack SLP, they drop as low as 50hz, which is pretty decent compared to most of the bookshelves I have heard and better than the specs indicate.Still, these speakers, by themselves don't produce enough bass depth for stand alone duty.You will need a decent sub that can make up for what the M30's lack and, given the m30 range, setting the crossover on the amp at 80 is the way to go with these babies.

These speakers are designed for a tonal match with all other speakers in the monitor line and the M10's are perfect for satellite duty.I would recommend spending a little extra for the Polk CS1 center over the CSM (returned it).As for a sub to match, CNET likes the match between the Polk PWS10 with the Monitor 30s (used in their test).I auditioned the PSW10 and felt it was lacking umph.I preferred the sound of the Velodyne VX-10 or Dayton 120 (although I am going to take the advice my audiofile friends and go for the Avs123 sub-x for $200).

The bottomline, the Monitor 30 is a high quality bookshelf speaker for a fair price.If you're a hardcore audiofile looking for paradigm and definitive bookshelves, the M30 isn't going to work for you.However, if you're looking for a nice sounding speaker but don't want to spend $800, these are ideal.Certainly, they blow away anything from sony, pioneer, yamaha and Bose etc.
