SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) Review

SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've seen several reviews for this player (a couple comments here, but mostly on other review sites) that have basically stated that it's "just not an iPod".Well, yeah..it's NOT an iPod.I don't think SanDisk is trying to be an iPod with this player, and I'm thankful they're not.
I wanted an MP3 player so I could listen to music while running.I needed something small, lightweight, easy to operate without having to break pace - especially when on the treadmill - and something that could take the bounces and jostles associated with running.I didn't care about the iPod brand, being able to watch TV/video, color screens, or having double-digits worth of GB memory.
This little SanDisk player is great for me.Within hours of it being delivered to my front porch, I had several CD's worth of music loaded on and I was listening with no problems. It was super easy to load music on it using Windows Media Player. It did take some reading to figure out how to work all aspects of it, but that rings true for almost any electronic device.I did the various functions while reading the instruction manual - the one on the included disk, not the super brief quick start guide - and was able to figure things out the next time with no problems. And with 2 GB of memory, I have plenty of room for my music.I've loaded probably 10 CD's on it already, and I have plenty of room to spare.
As for using it for my intended purpose - while running - it's wonderful!I used the included plastic cover and armband and off I went.I'm able to skip songs and change music while maintaining pace. The sound is great - even with the little foam earbud covers, even despite the noise of the treadmill. It's definitely much easier than trying to deal with a discman and one single CD.I've used it for probably 3-4 hours already, and the battery indicator has dropped just one section.
A tip for the instruction manual - pop in the little disk and use Windows Explorer to find the pdf file, then copy it to your computer. This makes it much easier to come back and look something up, rather than having to wade through the disk's contents.
If you want a very nice and perfectly functional MP3 player - and don't need/want the iPod brand and price - then this player will easily meet your needs.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Skylink MS-2001 2-Way Emergency Dialer Review

Skylink MS-2001 2-Way Emergency Dialer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The MS-2001 works great and I have NOT had the issue with needing to be more than 10' away nor have I had any issues with other wireless devices. The device replaced a $60 Radio Shack dialer we purchased 10 years ago (no longer made) that died. I would purchase the MS-2001 device again after comparing to other models. But a few items to note the downside of the device:
1) This device is rather large. 11"x7"x2" and looks like something designed in the 1970's.
2) The default dialer has speed-dial numbers which the elderly could confuse with the panic call button. This dialer is also rather large to hang around a neck.
3) I purchased a secondary dialer which is 1/2 the size but it has a slider over the call button which I popped off to allow easy access. BOTH dialers require you hold the button for one second or longer to initiate a call. Again, something the elderly may not remember.
4) In order for the receiver to terminate the calling chain - they must press #, press # again, enter a 4 digit code, then press *. I had to detail this in the emergency message and I cringe at someone driving down the road trying to do this. They should have made the terminate smart enough to accept just one button like my old model - the # or * key.
5) I have found no way to terminate the calling chain from the base. It will loop through the chain until it reaches the end.

Again, a good device but I wanted to list the quirks.

Motorola TalkAbout T6500R 10-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios (Pair) (Black) Review

Motorola TalkAbout T6500R 10-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As an outdoor enthusiast, I placed the "regarded" Motorola T5950R FRS/GMRS 2-way radio pair on my Christmas list. While attempting to acquire this set in a "big box" chain sporting goods store, my father was "steered" to the alleged Motorola model T6500 by a store associate who said that model was a new replacement for the T5950.Subsequently, he placed an order (for $40 less) on Amazon. After being informed of this, I decided to do some web research, and interestingly found that the model T6500 was NOT to be found ANYWHERE on the Motorola web site.A second order was placed here a few days later for the "trusty" T5950 set.

Seems the T6500 is "licensed knockoff" of the T5950 by Motorola's mainland-Chinese electronics manufacturer. The units look the same (except for the khaki face plate cover). The features are identical--as is the packaging.Only a small indication on the rear of the T6500 package discloses that the product is "Manufactured and sold by Giant International, Ltd., official licensee for this product."Furthermore, it is warranted and supported EXCLUSIVELY by the MANUFACTURER-NOT MOTOROLA!`Just ask a world-band shortwave radio hobbyist about "warranty service and support" from ANY Chinese OEM producer selling "direct" here in the states, and you'll run away...FAST!

Now...To the "differences"...and there ARE some-ALL performance related. While Motorola may license their name, logo, and design to an offshore OEM producer, you can be sure that they reserve their customer support AND several technical enhancements for models THEY specifically brand and market.

A side by side comparison between the genuine Motorola T5950 and its T6500 "imposter" reveals several performance issues. The T5950 has relatively good coverage (considering the communications class);audio loudness and clarity that are sufficient for reliable reception on a congested and "spotty" broadcast service;and NOAA Weather Station reception that is fairly good...even 30-50 miles from the desired station.I did not compare the T6500s transmit-receive coverage, but its audio quality and "punch" are WELL BELOW that of the "genuine" T5950.Furthermore, Weather Band reception on my T6500 sample (both units in the set) was very nearly NONFUNCTIONAL.

In conclusion:It is well worth spending a few bucks more for the "Real McCoy" genuine Motorola T5950 (I actually spent $4 LESS with a rebate here on Amazon). You'll appreciate the "domestic support", improved transmit audio quality, and a weather receiver that actually may save your life when you're out on the water!

I find this item to be small and compact. Light weight and easy to use. I love the weather station feature and the VOX hands free capability... without having to purchase an accessory! And the range, this is definitely NOT a kids toy. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the location of the "talk" button. Not that I have a better suggestion... but I think it's just a little awkward. But overall a great value for the money.

Sony CXS-GT5416F Bundle with CDX-GT540UI MP3/WMA/AAC/CD Player Receiver and XS-GF1622X 6.5-Inch Speakers Review

Sony CXS-GT5416F Bundle with CDX-GT540UI MP3/WMA/AAC/CD Player Receiver and XS-GF1622X 6.5 inch Speakers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this model for my Nissan Versa without doing any homework on it...a local store was offering free installation along with a sale price, and I noticed it had a front panel USB connector so I was hoping it would play my MP3 files from a flash drive.I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality and features...I figured I didn't need to spend a lot of money since I would be using the 4 pre-wired door speakers that came with my car.To say I was blown away by the sound would be an understatement...I can only imagine what this would sound like with a nice speaker setup. In any case, here's my take on the good and the not-so-good.

Pros:- Detaching the faceplate is easy.Attaching it can be a bit tricky, but with a little practice most
should be able to get it on in under 20 seconds.

- It's loaded with many of the same features of Sony's higher-priced players. There are several
ways to locate a specific track when playing CD-Rs or USB devices containing a lot of files.

- While playing regular audio CDs sounds amazing, this unit really shines in its ability to make
compressed (MP3) audio sound as good as the real thing; an improved sound processor
(compared to the model it replaced), a feature called Digital Music Plus Advanced, plus a
customizable equalizer all combine to give your data files excitement you've likely never heard
before.

- For FM radio stations that comply with the standard, the Radio Data System (RDS) will provide
song information, help you find particular types of stations (News, Sports, Top 40, Rock, etc.),
and can even set the clock for you.The radio can also store the stronger stations
automatically (BTM), but I prefer setting them manually...otherwise, you'll end up with a lot of
presets you're not interested in.

- Although I can't comment on its capabilities with an iPod, it does play my USB flash drives
without a hitch and has several shuffle and repeat play options.

Cons: - The user interface and manual could be confusing and frustrating for some. Most of the
buttons and the dial have to control multiple functions, so finding your way around the different
features and displays requires patience and learning.I still find myself accidentally
changing a setting I didn't want to or just plain getting stuck.Since the displays are different
depending on the source (CD, Tuner, USB, Aux-in) selected and how much information is
contained in the source, you won't always see what you might expect to see.

- The preset buttons are smaller than I would like. Some, like the source/off button and the
seek+ button, are together (like one big button), and it's easy to push the wrong one.The
included remote doesn't seem to help control the unit any better and doesn't include the
ability to access all of the track finding features. It seems best suited for a backseat
passenger.

- Whether it's day or night, you may run into a problem seeing everything clearly. The blue key
illumination takes care of the buttons while driving at night, but the printed lettering above the
keys is almost impossible to read.During the day, bright sunlight can cause glare problems
and wash out the LCD display (in certain vehicles).

- When Daylight Saving Time ended Nov. 1st, even though I had the unit set up to automatically
change the clock, I had to go back into the setup menu, turn it off, then turn it back on again
before the time reset itself (at least it was accurate).

- When using the Zappin feature to hear short clips of songs to find a track to play, you have to
wait about 2 seconds in between each preview on a regular audio CD and at least 5 or 6
seconds on an MP3 Data Disc or USB flash drive loaded with songs.

For me, the pros far outweigh the cons...after all, you don't have to use all the bells and whistles just because they are there. The sound quality of the CD player and music played through the USB port is outstanding, and anyone desiring more from the radio at least has the option of expanding to HD or SAT radio.I recommend this receiver for anyone (including audiophiles), as it offers tremendous bang for the buck.

Uniden BC346XT Handheld TrunkTracker III Analog Police Scanner Review

Uniden BC346XT Handheld TrunkTracker III Analog Police Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great scanner, with very good specs, has a nice, small form-factor, and works reliably.

I concur with the positives in the other, previous reviews.

But I've got a couple of gripes, for which I knocked one star off the rating: (these are not deal-breakers, but just things to be aware of)

1.The included rechargeable batteries are just a bit too large in diameter for the battery cover to fit properly (the cover sort of "bulges" out).More of an annoyance at this point, but I'm concerned that it could possibly break eventually, requiring me to find a replacement cover.(Using AA batteries does not cause this problem, the cover fits just fine with them).

2.The arrangement and organization of the owner's manual is very poor in my view. It's not printed, which may surprise some buyers, personally I'd prefer it printed, but I understand the economics of releasing it only online/on included CD.But sorry, the manual is VERY POORLY arranged.I'm an experienced radio guy, just not with Uniden brand products. But I still am getting frustrated trying to find stuff.I would much prefer a PDF style manual, where typefaces, spacing, white space, etc. can be combined to communicate point much more effectively. Is this a big deal? Well probably not a deal-breaker, once you/I figure out how the various features work, we won't need the manual much, but it's a royal pain until then. You may have friends who can help you out on this, which may make this irritation not too big a deal for you.

3.This scanner does have a LOT OF CAPABILITY, including some really cool features, as a result, most keys have multiple functions, some (again, my personal opinion) are not as well thought out as I would prefer, ie not intuitive.

But overall, it's a good unit.My gripes are probably not deal-breakers, and keeping in mind the price, it's a worthwhile purchase. If you're experienced with Uniden products, you might not have any trouble at all figuring out how to use it, perhaps even not needing the manual, but if you're like me, just be prepared for a learning curve longer than you might otherwise expect.

Product Description:
Built tough to withstand the punishing marine environment, the Icom IC-M422 fixed-mount VHF radio is a must for safety-minded boaters. The radio is outfitted with a host of valuable features, including a large backlit LCD display with a four-step contrast, an intuitive, easy-to-use keypad, and a rugged waterproof housing that's submersible in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. More significantly, the radio works with all 57 U.S., 61 Canadian, and 57 international channels, along with 10 weather channels from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA). The VHF channels offer an ideal way to communicate with other boaters--whether exchanging information on a hot fishing spot or sending out a distress signal--while the NOAA channels notify you when inclement weather is approaching.
The radio--which mounts conveniently on your boat's dash using the included bracket kit--employs Icom's Force5Audio technology to boost the sound pressure levels and produce crisp, loud reception. The integrated microphone, meanwhile, is finely tuned to pick up voices while minimizing ambient background noise, such as a boat engine, wind, or seagulls. As a result, both casual conversations and urgent distress calls come through loud and clear.
The IC-M422 offers several scanning modes, including an auto scan function that starts scanning whenever no signal is detected, a traditional scan mode that searches through all the tag channels in sequence, a priority scan mode that does the same but also monitors the distress channel (number 16), and a weather alert option that immediately switches the radio to the appropriate weather channel when a storm warning comes through. Users will also dig the Dual Watch and Tri-Watch functions. The former lets you communicate on a channel of your choice while also keeping an eye on emergency channel 16, while the latter monitors two channels--channel 16 and another channel--while receiving a third channel. The pair of "watch"modes guarantee that you won't miss an important emergency call from a distressed boater while your attention is otherwise engaged.
As with other high-quality fixed-mount VHF radios, the IC-M422 comes with built-in Digital Selective Calling (DSC), which lets you send a formatted distress message in an emergency. DSC activates an instantaneous, continuous "mayday" signal that identifies your vessel, reports your position, and time stamps the message. But that's not all, as boaters can also use DSC to make contact with a specific boater of group of boaters in your area. DSC uses a unique ID (MMSI code) that's similar to a telephone number. To stay in contact with specific boaters, simply store each boater's unique address in your radio (the IC-M422 holds up to 100, each with a five-character name).
Another nice detail is the IC-M422's GPS compatibility. When connected to a GPS receiver, the radio can send your GPS position to other boats, or it can poll the GPS location of another vessel and display it on your LCD screen in seconds, provided the navigational device accepts the NMEA data format. The polling function also checks whether a specific ship is in your communication range.
Finally, the IC-M422 can double as a public address (PA) system for onboard announcements or ship-to-shore communication using an external loud speaker or hailer. The RX speaker function even lets you monitor the received audio from the loudspeaker or hailer while you sit on the deck or tower. Additional details include seven-step keypad backlighting, instant access to channels 16 and 9, and a low-voltage indicator for when the battery is running down. Housed in an attractive white case, the radio measures 6.47 by 3.06 by 5.47 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a three-year warranty.

Xact Replacement XB10 2-Way Radio battery Review

Xact Replacement XB10 2-Way Radio battery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had these wristwatch 2 way gmrs radios and purchased a battery. These batterys do not last long and go dead in about a year. The cost is $18.00 plus shipping to replace a battery.Well you can buy a new set of radios complete for that on ebay. So why are these batterys so extreamly expensive? I do not know. Anyway i got rid of the radios that use these batterys. These are not recommended and is my opinion as a user of this product. These should last as long as a standard cell phone battery and cost only a few dollars. Not recommended at all.

Garmin Rino 520HCx 14-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio and GPS Receiver Review

Garmin Rino 520HCx 14-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio and GPS Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The CX version is the more sensitive GPS receiver from the old one.
Excellent sensitivity. Unlike old one, works indoors in wood structures.
Weather/rain proof.

Great maps/database features. Unique in that two or more RINO's can display each others' location on map.

Lots of accessories.

The Bad:
Mediocre to poor radio compared to Motorola or other full power GMRS.
Shorter range, less sensitive receiver.
Menu driven access to EITHER volume or squelch but not both at same time is tedious.
No external antenna connection for GMRS.

Product Description:
Hit the trail in confidence with the Garmin Rino 520HCx, which combines a two-way FRS/GMRS radio with a high-sensitivity GPS navigator. The waterproof unit offers 22 channels and 5 watts of transmit power, so you can contact friends or rescue crews from up to 14 miles away (line of sight) over GMRS channels or up to 2 miles over FRS channels. The high-sensitivity GPS receiver, meanwhile, locates your position quickly and precisely and maintains its GPS location even in heavy cover. The advantage is clear: whether you're traipsing through thick woods or strolling near tall buildings and trees, you can count on the Rino 520HCx to help you find your way when you need it the most. The combined radio and navigator functions make the device a must-have for mountain climbing, alpine camping, back-country skiing, and a host of other outdoor activities.

The 520HCx navigator/2-way radio is compact and lightweight, with a 10.3-ounce housing that won't slow you down on the trail. Like the rest of the Rino series, the Rino 520HCx offers a unique Position Reporting feature, which lets you send your exact location to other Rino users in your group so that everyone can see your position on the map page. No more worrying about the lagging hikers in your group each time you reach a fork in the trail. Plus, because the 520HCx is a standard FRS/GMRS radio, you can use it to communicate with other conventional FRS/GMRS radios in the area.
The Rino boasts an crystal-clear 256-color TFT display that clearly shows maps and other info, along with a built-in Americas Recreational basemap that includes U.S. rivers, lakes, principal cities, some smaller cities and towns, major interstates, principal highways, political boundaries, and major airports. Users can also expand the mapping possibilities via the microSD card slot, which accepts cards preloaded with MapSource data for your land and sea excursions. Just insert a MapSource card with detailed street maps and the Rino 520HCx will provide step-by-step or turn-by-turn directions to your destination.

Receive detailed mapping information on the navigator's 1.3-by-1.7-inch, 256-color TFT display. Other details include a USB interface, 500 waypoints and 50 routes, a hunt/fish calendar, hands-free voice activation (requires separately sold headset), a voice scrambler, and external temperature recording. SIRIUS Sportster 5 Satellite Radio Receiver with Vehicle Kit Review

SIRIUS Sportster 5 Satellite Radio Receiver with Vehicle Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
OK.

So after all of the hype surrounding satellite radio I decided to "pimp out" my Sebring by adding SIRIUS to it.In order not to look ghetto as well as match my existing deck I decided to pick one of these up and subscribe.

First, I'll review the device. Then, I'll review the service.Basically, good news then bad news.

The device itself has a very small form factor which I found very appealing. It comes with a mini dock which essentially powers the device and routes its audio and antenna signal.Know that you'll be doing quite a bit of wiring if you do this yourself - I would recommend professional installation unless you're comfortable doing your own car installation stuff. There are 3, possibly 4, wires that you'll be dealing with:

- The CLA (cigarette lighter adapter)
- The satellite antenna
- The FM antenna extender (only needed if you choose that option)
- The line out (only needed if you choose that option)

Now, if all of these ports were in the back of the dock next to each other this wouldn't be so bad, but instead they're on either side. That's a lot of cables to have hanging out, which is why I recommend professional install if you're not comfortable. I decided to do it myself and, to get set up with the "basic" quality which is wireless FM (it's decent, but nothing to write home about) with neat wiring took me about 45 minutes, give or take. That's including mounting (which I'll get to in a moment).

SIRIUS recommends using line out/line in if at all possible.Newer decks have this jack, but some older pre-2004 likely do not, or if they do, it's a proprietary connector that might not work with the Sportster 5.I have the Kenwood MP735U and it works just fine.I found the cable at Circuit City ($24!!!) and it worked like a charm.Took some doing and even more neat wiring, but I did get it to work.I will admit, using the line out spanks the smoke out of the wireless FM or FM modulation options; it's near CD quality, especially on the Jazz and Classical stations.Again, you can use wireless FM and it will sound "okay", but line out will give you the absolute best quality possible; you just have to do another cable.

Mounting the unit has a number of options as well - one of which is not available depending on what state you're in.California, for example, has Draconian laws about vehicles; you can't have anything stuck to the front windshield.Ironically this is the easiest way to mount the device, as the suction cup works extremely well, and you just attach the device to the metal arm and adjust. If you have this option and don't mind the device up in the window, I recommend doing this.I have an old Chrysler CD changer indash not being used; a trip to Home Depot for a $.49 angle bracket did the trick - attached it to the dock with a single screw, then slipped the other end into the CD slot and like magic, it's solid and looks great right underneath the deck.I suppose I could have hard installed it with another screw or two, but I'd rather not.

All said and done the initial hardware investment came to roughly $200.Keep in mind that SIRIUS has cheaper devices that don't look nearly as good. The downside to the devices is the cigarette lighter adapter. In fact the documentation explicitly forbids a direct power tap. This is so disheartening I can't even describe it.I have to keep unplugging it when I turn the car off so it doesn't suck the battery dry.Why can't you have the option of tapping it into the player's alternate power line so it turns on with the player?I'm absolutely mystified at this oversight.

Now, the service.Oh, this will be fun.

The quality of the audio?Stellar.Never heard anything like it except on digital TV's music channels.

The quality of everything else?Horrid.Where do I begin...

- The activation/customer service phone # has extremely long wait times.it took me a total of 5 hours across 10 different phone calls to reach someone who could help me.Do the math.

- Activation/CS reps are clearly stressed over something.I talked to two who were just blatantly rude; one who had no idea what she was talking about, the other a guy who claimed he'd been "...working at SIRIUS for over 3 years and" knew what he was talking about.Funny - since he had no idea that you can't activate with invoice billing on the website (more on that later).

- SIRIUS and Circuit City have some type of conglomeration going on to force you to call to activate.CC offers a "prepaid subscription card" which is supposed to offset the initial charges (more on that later) to get service.Well that's all good and everything except the card cannot be used on the website even though the website acknowledges the card and its value. It says "cannot be redeemed".An Asst. Manager at CC informed me that calling was the only way to redeem the card.Had I known that, I wouldn't have bought that particular card, but a regular gift card that I could use on the web.Because of the aforementioned long hold times, it was a nightmare to do this simple task. The girl even told me "you should be able to use it on the web" - the other idiot claimed "you're just doing something wrong".

- Too much personal information required to sign up.Why do you care what type of car I have? All that should be needed is a credit card (if you choose that payment method) and my address/name.If it's for purposes of theft recovery, that's up to me, the buyer, to deal with that.Which I do - in my auto insurance plan.

- Website will authorize your credit card without activating an account for you. That's money you can't touch until they feel like releasing it - which could be 2 weeks.

- Inability to just sign up for an account without giving billing information and/or buying a device. Why can't I just establish the account and then pay for it?Why force me to buy the deck in order to get service established? If I wanted DirecTV and didn't have it, I call them and activate, and then the hardware comes...not the other way around.

- Website forces you to put in a credit card. You can't do invoice billing as an option. Why not?Because they know every customer would just do that and then they would be getting free service for that month grace.

-Website does not allow you to select month-to-month billing as an option, and by default it hides the quarterly and 6-month options (which would obviously be the more popular for newbies like myself).

- Telephone IVR can't hear properly.I tried to activate through the automated system and it just couldn't understand the letters "D", "I", "O", "N".That's it, and I don't know how many times the chick said "sorry?"

- No trial offered (I'm talking about in-car installation). Why can't I just buy a unit from a store that offers returns, activate a 14-day trial period with a credit card, and then return and cancel if I hate it?Because then they'd have high turnover due to buyers remorse (which I had at one point due to the above issues)

- $15 activation fee which is not disclosed on the hardware documentation. You don't find out about this until you go to the website or you talk to an agent. It should be clearly disclosed on the packaging of the device since you'd be forced to pay that fee by activating the device - not at the very last minute when you're putting in your credit card.On top of that, it's blatantly mob-ish of them to charge: an activation fee, a monthly fee, fee for the hardware, etc etc etc. They already get money from the subscription - remove the activation fee already or annualize it across the subscription.
So class, in summary:The customer service is screwed up, and in order to activate properly and get the best billing options, you need to call customer service (which did I mention is screwed up?).DO NOT activate over the web if you're using a gift card.I guarantee you, you will get frustrated.

The quality of the product is top notch. The ability to see who's playing before you select the station is excellent, and the high resolution of this screen makes navigating stations quick and easy. The audio sounds upper class if you're using the line out jack, and setup is not that difficult if you know what you're doing.Once you get past activations you should be smooth. It's just that phase that causes headaches.

The Sportster 5 also includes a built-in FM transmitter that sends Sirius radio programming to your vehicle's FM tuner, so you don't have to make a direct connection to enjoy the full array of channels. Parents also have control over channels and channel lockout. Measuring just 9.5 x 7.5 x 3 inches, the Sportster 5 weighs a mere 3.7 ounces.

Midland AVPH1 Open Face Helment Headset for Midland GMRS Review

Midland AVPH1 Open Face Helment Headset for Midland GMRS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Midland AVPH1 Open Face Helment Headset for Midland GMRS with a GXT710VP3 radio. The headset delivers great clear sound quality - easy to understand while dirt biking at a high rate of speed -- although that also has to do with the radio as the speakers can only produce what the radio puts out. It was also quite easy to install in my helmet: a typical motocross helmet with open face for goggles and closed, pointed mouth protection. The adhesive backed velcro disk that mounts the mic base to the helmet holds securely -- something I initially doubted. I routed the flexible mic boom in a spiral fashion under the helmet bottom and located the mic right in front of my mouth position. To hold it in place and make it easy to get the helmet on and off without disturbing the headset I drilled two very small holes in the helmet mouth protection and ran a small wire tie in one hole, around the mic boom just behind the mice pickup and back out through the second hole, into the tie clasp and cut it off flush so that there is only the tiny end visible and nothing to catch on. I didn't pull it tight, just snuggish to prevent movement without binding or stressing the boom. As for wires,I didn't want the wire junction where mic, left speaker, right speaker come together hanging down putting tension on the mic mount or wires so I just taped everything to the back of the helmet leaving the one wire with the plug end that goes to the radio harness hanging down off the back. I just used silver duct tape. Some people might object to this type of thing. But I prefer function over some sort of stylish look -- although my helmet is silver, like the duct tape (and Red Green would be proud!). The speakers mounted easily in the ear recesses of my helmet also with a peal and stick adhesive backing velcro pad and the wires routed easily between helmet padding pieces. I cleaned the mounting surface for the speakers and mic mounting points with alcohol first to get a good stick. The speakers have a soft cover and do not hurt my ears (or even touch them much). Although mounting the same set-up in my wife's closed face helmet of different manufacture which had more ear/upper cheek padding required taking the helmet padding piece out, pealing back the cloth and cutting out some foam so that the speaker did not press into her ear and cheek bone. That was not hard either -- about 30 minutes total for her helmet.
The jury is still out on the push to talk switch. I'm glad it was included. However, for dirt biking I did not think it prudent to mount it to the handlebars as intended since falling off would rip the whole thing apart at the plug or elsewhere. So I wrap the push to talk switch around my left thumb, pointing down and a little in on my left thumb so that I can grip the handle grip well, but extend my middle finger and thumb toward each other while still holing on to push the button. Works well. I hold the wiring in place by routing it from the radio (mounted on my belt on the left side toward the back) inside my shirt and body armor, up the back and down the arm and out the inside elbow hole, and along the inside of my forearm. Takes about 2 full minutes to route. But it is nice to be able to communicate with my riding buddies (or wife on easier rides) whereas we had to stop before. If using the VOX function, which also works very well as long as you put in one word you don't intend anyone to hear first (or say "Ahhh for one half second) to get it going. In that case you can just stuff the wires in your pocket and go after running the helmet wire up your back and plugging it in and taping it (for serious riding). I recommend taping the connections anyway to keep crap out of the din connector.
Overall, it's a great setup and great sound quality.

i have 4 of these speakers being pushed by a infinity reference amp. these speakers are clean and worth the money.

Product Description:
Infinity's 6030cs is a 6-1/4-inch, two-way component system including Plus One woofer and 1-inch textile dome tweeter with I-mount tweeter kit and Starfish OEM adapter.

The Infinity Reference Series

Infinity's Reference Series has been engineered to deliver best-in-class performance for those looking to replace or upgrade their factory speakers. Features like Infinity's Plus One (patent pending) woofer cones and edge-driven-dome tweeters have helped position Infinity Reference as the number-one line of automotive loudspeakers for the past six years straight.

Component Systems are the perfect platform when developing a system with superior imaging and staging.

Infinity 6030cs Features

Plus One woofer cones
This patent pending technology deliver a cone with more surface area than competing models of the same size. The result is increased bass output and higher efficiency.
Rubber surrounds
This woofer surround material provides optimum cone-edge suspension and absorbs distortions that may travel up the cone edge, adding stronger low-end.
True Four Ohms
All Reference speakers feature two ohm voice coils. Original factory-installed speaker wiring in many cars is 18-22 gauge. This wire, and heating in the voice coil when power is applied, increase the impedance "seen" by the amplifier or head unit. The impedance of Reference Speakers has been adjusted to compensate for this increase and can be safely driven by any head unit.
Edge-driven textile dome tweeter
These are not commonly used w-domes, but fully-edge-driven domes like those found in better home audio speakers. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output levels. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer.
Crossover network with tweeter adjustment
Each Infinity Reference component system includes a pair of laboratory optimized passive crossover networks that include tweeter adjustment. If the tweeters are located low in the doors or if you are looking for a brighter sound, you can set the tweeter at +3dB.
Versatile Mounting
To facilitate proper installation and location of the tweeter, each Reference component system includes Infinity's patented I-Mount (patent no. 5,859,917) tweeter mounting kit including the Starfish OEM adapter.
