(More customer reviews)I was totally shocked to ever find a 5-way 6x9, especially Kenwood. This speaker sounds awesome! Killer bass, great mids, crisp highs.The only thing I wasn't happy with is the grills. They are too bulky, very unsightly. In fact I replaced them with some 15 year old Kenwood grills I had in a box! Can't wait to get my Kenwood amp installed to see how these speakers do with some real power, but I believe they will perform as expected or better.

I honestly didn't hear a significant difference, although I haven't installed my
amp yet.

ONE thing that I have not read ANYWHERE in online specs or reviews: On the INSIDE flap
of the box it reads :

WARNING: this product contains a high performance tweeter. If there is a
tweeter already installed in your car, then you must disconnect its terminals.
If you leave the original tweeter connected and connect this product in
parallel, then a fault may develop in this product, so you are strongly
recommended not to do so.

WTF? that is precisely what i had intended on doing, replacing my 5.25" with
alpines, and also upgrading the tweeter in my stock 6-speaker buick. Why is
this warning HIDDEN on the inside of the box and not on any sites?

any advice?

These mount low in the door, and the tweeter is up higher, so I don't want to eliminate the tweeters and have all my front sound coming from floor level.

Hooked them up to a orion cobalt 600.4 amp wow these things bump!! Ive read some reviews saying they have no bass thats crazy! These little things got a lot of bass plus highs and mids! Maybe the past reviewers were not putting enogh power to them. I also have a new pair of boston acoustic 6/9 these things blow them out of the water in every way! So time to get rid of those and get another pair of these! Get these you will be happy!! Cant wait to hear how they sound in a month after a full break in period!!
Update Sep 29 09 Just had another pair installed in the back and all I have to say is WOW!! Like I said before I had Boston Acoustic 6/9 s95 in boxes and they just cannot hang with these! You can get away without a sub with these! Love em!

This car has considerable rode noise, and if the volume was turned up on the speakers, the sound quality became so bad it was worse than the noise. I purchased these speakers in the hope that I could drown out the road noise at high speeds so I could still listen to music while driving. I drive to Utah (about 5 hours) twice a month. In this my primary goal, I have been extremely pleased. These seem like a very nice speaker.

The radio in this car is not a high quality unit, so I cannot accurately rate the quality reproduction of the highs and the lows, but my overall impression of the sound that comes from these speakers seems very clean. My last speakers I could barely hear the base, and now I can hear it and even feel it (these speakers are in the panel down by my legs). Voices come out much crisper than the old speakers. I would definitely recommend these speakers. I will update this review after I replace the stereo.

(More customer reviews)Bought these speakers for my work truck, a Nissan Frontier crew cab. The truck has no factory mounted rear speakers and no mounting locations.
The Pyramids were an easy mount behind the seats.
The sound is good, who can tell in a truck anyway, but they handle the power from my 52x4 head unit ok and don't distort until about 75% volume is reached.
Good for the money if your not into blasting the volume.

I have them installed in an S10 with Alpine Type S 4x6 speakers in the dash, two 12 inch subwoofers behind the seats, and an Alpine IDA-x001 head unit.I have passive crossovers installed on these speakers, so I can't comment on the bass response of these speakers, but the mids and highs are excellent.I have them powered by the in-deck amplifier, and these speakers could certainly handle more power than is being supplied.An external amplifier would probably be a good choice with these these speakers, but it is not necessary.They sound loud and clear just the way they are. They sound better than several component speaker systems that I have heard in the past, and I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone wishing to upgrade their sound system.

These speakers sound great.I hooked them up directly to my head (a Sony aftermarket radio) and for a first timer I installed them myself in my little Honda hatchback in a couple of hours with a dremel (the first one took an hour an a half, after that I knew what I was doing so it was a breeze).They look really nice and can handle highs and mids real well, thebass gets a little iffy on higher volumes but hey, that's what subs are for.Less than ten bucks per speaker.You can't complain.I'm definitely sticking with Boss when I buy my amp and sub.

PS:If your car has a red theme going on, these look really nice.

Infinity 6030cs Features

Plus One woofer cones
This patent pending technology deliver a cone with more surface area than competing models of the same size. The result is increased bass output and higher efficiency.
Rubber surrounds
This woofer surround material provides optimum cone-edge suspension and absorbs distortions that may travel up the cone edge, adding stronger low-end.
True Four Ohms
All Reference speakers feature two ohm voice coils. Original factory-installed speaker wiring in many cars is 18-22 gauge. This wire, and heating in the voice coil when power is applied, increase the impedance "seen" by the amplifier or head unit. The impedance of Reference Speakers has been adjusted to compensate for this increase and can be safely driven by any head unit.
Edge-driven textile dome tweeter
These are not commonly used w-domes, but fully-edge-driven domes like those found in better home audio speakers. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output levels. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer.
Crossover network with tweeter adjustment
Each Infinity Reference component system includes a pair of laboratory optimized passive crossover networks that include tweeter adjustment. If the tweeters are located low in the doors or if you are looking for a brighter sound, you can set the tweeter at +3dB.

(More customer reviews)I installed these speakers 2 weeks ago in the dash of my car, hoping that I had found a quality speaker for a good price.The first time I listened to them, I thought I had, because they sounded great.A couple of days later, I noticed some vibration coming from the dash, as if the speakers were blown.I thought it might just be something loose in the dash, so I took the speakers out of the dash and listened to them while holding them in my hand.The speakers would vibrate any time there was bass being pumped through, and it is not worth it to send them back as shipping costs just as much as new speakers.So now I'm doing what I should have done in the first place: buying good quality speakers.

Pioneer TS-G1643R 6.5-Inch 2-Way Speakers Review

(More customer reviews)I had to replace broken factory speakers (paper or cardboard material) on my Integra '97, so I went to the shop to listen different speakers for under $100/pair. Polk DB651s were definitely #1, but surprise was this Pioneer that sounded better than Infinity or Sony (again, these are under $100/pair speakers). Polk had a clear, balanced sound from bass to mid to high. These speakers were not as clear but were well balanced.
So, I decided to put Polk speakers in front and Pioneer in the rear. Surprisingly, I could not hear much difference while driving, probably due to all the noise you get on the road. TS-G1643R speakers sound 1000x better than cheap factory speakers - I don't know if you can even buy something bad like what they put in the factory.

Pros:
- Installation was really simple. You need to get a cable adapter "harness" for your car, attach to the speaker on one side and to the car wire adapter on the other side, then put back original screws and that is it.
- Sound is great - you can hear nice bass and clear sound either for music or talk radio.
- It is so inexpensive that it is hard to imagine how they can sell it and make money.

Cons:
- Once you put speakers, the sound may not be what you expect - typically you will not get enough bass. After changing speakers, you need to use your receiver and set equilizer for the sound you like. In my case, on JVC receiver I restored default settings (everything "0") then added +4db for "bass" and -2db for "high". So, this is really not a "cons" but a note that you need to do something "extra".

If you want to get decent inexpensive speakers to replace factory junk, there is no competition in this price range to these speakers.
