(More customer reviews)The product Quality seems to be B+.The total package still fails.Why!!!Because the base unit two way radios "voice activation feature" does not work with the headset package that it comes with and they knew it before they packaged it and sent it out.

I bought my daughter and son-inlaw to be a set of two way radios with voice activation so that they could enjoy their bike rides together safely and with constant communication with the voice activated feature advertised with these two way radios.The day of the trip, they could not figure out how to get it to work.

A week later, when they had time, my daughter called customer support only to find out that they knew that it did not work.They did not offer any suggestions or willingness to send a head set that does work.

I really think they should have sent her a head set that does work.Seventy dollars is a lot of money to pay for a device that does not work on one of the most basic and attractive features of the radios.

(More customer reviews)I bought these walkie talkies because they had some pretty good reviews. My elderly father lives with me and can not be left alone and I have six acres of ground, so if I go outside and I'm down the other end he can use the call button to signal me or the talk button and we can hear each other just fine, I keep them on from about 9am to 7:30pm and then put them in to charge at night and they are good to go, so I highly recommend these if you need to stay in touch with someone, though I can't tell you about longer distances, these are great for me.

The Midland LXT330 radio provides you with 22 GMRS/FRS (General Mobile Radio Service/Family Radio Service) UHF channels, and up to a 16-mile range in open territory. (More customer reviews)We use radios on our 20-acre property, where we're thinning trees and doing other outdoor work. Radios are a lot better than hand signals when we're working together, and easier than running around looking for each other when we're apart. Since some of the work is dangerous, radios are a good safety measure.

We bought these radios recently to replace a pair of the predecessor model that we wore out. (Too much rough handling broke one of the antennas, I think, and reception went downhill.)

We have been happy with both pair. This model has more channels, otherwise the same features. Power and reception are very good in hills and forest over the 1/3-mile maximum range we use them in. One battery charge lasts all day.

The top volume does not seem to be quite as loud on the new pair. I wish they came in some color other than camo -- drop one on the forest floor and you'll need the other radio to locate it.

We used over-the-ear boom headsets with the first pair, and we got the "security" headsets for this pair. We wear them under hearing-protection earmuffs around noisy equipment. Nonetheless, the noise of a diesel tractor or chainsaw will drown out the transmission, whether you're speaking or listening.

The headsets and batteries are interchangeable with the previous model; the charging bases are not.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the 530HCx about two weeks ago to use while deer hunting in East Tennessee.Everyone in our group has GPS and two-way radio to find our way around and communicate when we are in unfamilar territory.I have been searching for a device that will take care of both needs, without having to handle two seperate pieces of equipment, and the 530HCx has worked flawlessly so far.

The satellite positioning seems to be right on and positioning after start-up was quick.I used the unit to mark several deer trails, rub lines, and possible stand placements and I was able to return to those areas very easily.I used the averaging feature to fine tune the locations and was able to get within 5-7 feet of everything I marked.

Everyone in the group said that radio transmission was crystal clear, they could hear my transmissions better than anyone elses.Don't get me wrong the Garmin in definetly a GPS first and radio second but I was very pleased with its two-way capabilities.It performed as well, if not better, than the midlands and motorolas in the group.

I also invested in TOPO US 2008 to install on the unit.I wasn't that impressed with the TOPO map but area detail is alot better than the basemap.We make several trips to Fort Campbell every year and all roads, creeks, and even fire
