When my cable goes out I can still catch my soaps and when breaking news is happening I can watch while my kids are utilizing the other sets.

It is portable, you get access to PBS stations, can listen to radio or watch tv in black and white, 10 "C" batteries and an earphone jack.It is lightweight.

I like the convenient built-in handle since I have used this in various rooms when the cable has gone out or I cannot access one of the televisions in the house. When not in use I roll up the plug to the AC adaptor and store it in the open slot on top, which is the area used for the handle. This is one area that does get dirty easily. The antenna is housed behind this with a slot for it to snap into, plus I always leave it in the down position. It is easy to pull the antenna up with the total measurement of it being 20 inches. I have watched shows with the antenna straight up as well as to the left and right. It basically depends if you are viewing VHF or UHF.

The picture tube is small, five inches, with the knobs at the bottom for selecting radio, tv or off. Then there is the switch for VL, VH, UHF and the radio offering of either AM or FM at the bottom of the same knob. The volume lever is to the right with the earphone jack at the end. The tuning dial is to the right of the picture tube, beside the dial pointer that is a black shade with the red indicating the selection.

I have to check the selection when I switch from CBS to ABC, but NBC is the same dial indicator as CBS. The volume works great and the picture quality is fairly good for being this size. Since we rely on cable for television access we have had many periods when they were upgrading the system locally and when it does not function properly. When this happens I plug in the Spectra? Black and White Portable Television with AM/FM Radio, 52-BWR-WB and can sit at the kitchen table enjoying my favorite show without a glitch.

The back of the Spectra? Black and White Portable Television with AM/FM Radio, 52-BWR-WB has the adaptor plug, an external antenna jack, a battery charge, vertical hold control, brightness control and the contrast control.

The power source selector in the back has three options when using batteries, ext is for AC adaptor or car battery, BATT for internal batteries and Charge for Ni-Cad rechargeable batteries.

Uniden PRO510XL 40-Channel CB Radio Review

Uniden PRO510XL 40-Channel CB Radio

I am partial to Uniden anyway, however this CB is great for a first time user or as a back up to a more expensive unit.I have been using CB for about 10 years and I always make sure I have a Uniden 510 available for a back up, or use it in a second car.It has superior range when used with a good antenna and the received audio is decent. I would suggest using an external speaker unless you have a super quiet vehicle. The anl switch cuts through static really well to improve reception, although it sometimes dulls out the audio of the person you are trying to hear. You can use it with a cigarette lighter plug with an adapter from radio shack for a few dollars. They will even show you how to hook it up.It all boils down to being a great CB at a great price.Remember a simple rule of thumb... An inexpensive CB on a good antenna will perform just as well as a high-end CB on a cheap antenna.Don't forget to tune your antenna and have fun!
