(More customer reviews)I purchased these for a car caravan summer trip in 2008 where we would not have the use of cell phones due to some of the remote locations out in the western U.S.The claim of a range of 28 miles is absolutely ridiculous.Typically 1 watt = 1 mile under good conditions.I figured that even if I got ? of that range it would still be good, it was not.We have very poor communications car to car even when we were 200 feet apart.Broken and dropped transmissions not to mention poor battery life (even when I charged them every night in the hotel).I'm not sure how Uniden is getting away with the performance claims on this product.I was sorely disappointed with these and I'm a Uniden fan and have been for years.
