(More customer reviews)We got these for Christmas, and are very pleased with them. We haven't tested out the range yet, but were counting on a slightly wider range than the 6-mile ones (which reviewers found to have a 1-mile range).
I thought it was a little strange that we were required to apply for an FCC license. I just went online to do this, and was surprised to find that it costs $80. In addition, the online registration process is confusing and time-consuming. Regardless of whether having a license affects the performance of the unit, Amazon should have made a much larger note of it. For Pete's sake, the license costs more than the radios do.
